Alliance for the Progress of Africa's Future
Africa is home to some of the brightest minds, and is the most culturally diverse continent in the world, with over 3000 ethnic groups, and 2000 spoken languages. All of these present immense opportunities for a prosperous Africa, and that's why an access point to inspirational information is needed such that Africans can once more relive the prosperity of their past, and put her where she belongs as the cradle of civilization.
The wealth of this rich continent cannot be quantified. How about Africa's immense reserve of choice minerals and precious metals -- gold, cobalt, diamond, platinum and uranium, and the highest percentage of young people? What about Africa's vast, lush and fertile arable land! Yet, over 460 million Africans go to bed hungry everyday. Imagine that.
What, then, are the setbacks for a continent that birthed the likes of Mansa Musa - famed world richest man in the world at a point in history; conquerors like Queen Amina and Oba Esigie of Benin? How have a people of such renowned confidence, resourcefulness and self-governance, now resorted to fleeing their continent for "greener pastures" despite the immense riches at their finger tips?
Why is the continent with the world's youngest population unable to maximize the potential of its brilliant and creative youth to turn its fortune around?
About Baobab Club
Drawing inspiration from Africa's great baobab tree, the Baobab Club was founded to address the challenge of tapping into Africa's goldmine - its youth - for the reclamation of our lost glory as a self-sufficient and rich continent.
As a group of concerned professionals who are heavily-invested in the continent, we will provide insights and perspectives that will draw from the wisdom of our forefathers, and reclaim our place as a once prosperous Africa which was once known for her ability to self-govern, maximize her resources, and defend her pride.
Our aim, as the access point to inspirational information, is to answer the "why", "what" and "where" that have brought us to the point where our finest have resorted to fleeing their land to seek "greener pastures" elsewhere, rather than braving the needed introspection that will show them the immense possibilities and opportunities in Africa, and to guide them toward finding hope and a reason to invest in Africa's future.
Vision
Our vision is create a strong, hopeful, and enlightened mind within the African youth, with
the hope to build a productive African community and a thriving African economy. We strive
to build a world where Africans everywhere can proudly celebrate their culture and heritage,
and where no one is left behind, as a result of societies where each individual gives and
sacrifices more for the good of all.
Mission
Our mission is to rekindle a sense of responsibility within the African that will promote the
growth of African economies through the active and enlightened participation of the youth.
To achieve this, we will use talks, seminars, and discussions to educate and inform our
members, as well as to provide a platform for voices to be heard. We will work to create a
sense of selflessness, pride, and togetherness amongst our members which we believe will
lead to the development of positive change in the African continent, especially within those
who have lost faith in the continent.
